GARLAND – Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a man found in an apartment complex, according to Garland police.
Officers responded to a report of a body found at an apartment building in the 4500 block of Chaha Street around 1 a.m. Monday. Upon arrival, they found evidence suggesting foul play.
Police said the man, 53-year-old Johnny Mack Ross Jr., suffered fatal knife wounds.
Police also discovered that one of Ross’ cars had been stolen from the residence. Around 1 p.m. Monday, police spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it, leading to a short pursuit led by the suspects.
After a short pursuit, the suspects, Haley Barber, 20, and Leo Moore, 20, fled on foot. They were then arrested by the police.
Police said Mr Barber and Mr Moore were responsible for Mr Ross’ death and there was evidence that they knew him, but the details of their fight are still under investigation. .
Barber and Moore were charged with secret murder.
