The University of North Texas has 46,309 students enrolled for the fall semester, which is a less than 1% decrease from fall 2023.
Overall, the university’s enrollment has increased by 18% since 2019, according to university data. Meanwhile, the university opened its Frisco campus in 2023, where more than 3,000 students currently study.

UNT awarded 12,980 degrees in the 2023-24 academic year. Since 2019, UNT has accounted for 52.3% of the state’s public university new enrollment growth.
“UNT is uniquely positioned to bring about transformative change across North Texas and across campus communities and businesses, industry and civic organizations,” UNT President Harrison Keller said in a university news release. “As the largest public university in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and the third largest in the state, UNT is at the forefront of expanding opportunities for Texas students and driving the state’s creative economy.”
Mr. Keller joined UNT as provost on August 1. He is committed to addressing three areas of the university, according to the release:
Student Success Research and Innovation Strategic Budgeting Universities are looking at ways they can serve more students, Harrison said in an interview with Community Impact. He explained that UNT will continue to partner with educational institutions and community leaders to ensure that North Texas and all of Texas remain competitive in the future.
“We have a responsibility to make this economy more competitive,” Harrison said.
