The Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT), a state agency dedicated to advancing cancer research and prevention, awarded $89 million across 22 grants. The Dallas-based institution received significant funding, including a $4 million Rising Star Scholar Award to UT Southwestern, which hired cardio-oncology expert Dr. Daniel Addison. Additionally, CPRIT announced the addition of new staff to strengthen its ability to advance innovative cancer research and prevention. These grants represent CPRIT’s continued efforts to fight cancer across the state through recruitment, prevention, and treatment development.
Medical City Fort Worth has been recognized for excellence in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, earning Magnet designation for the fourth time. “Medical City Fort Worth is proud to be a part of this partnership,” said John Huber, CEO of Medical City Fort Worth. The Meadows Institute for Mental Health Policy, in collaboration with West Health and Northwestern Medicine, launched the Northwestern Medicine West Health Accelerator to integrate mental health care into primary care settings.
