The grandson of Denton County Commissioner Bobby Mitchell was arrested Monday after allegedly stabbing a Texas politician and her husband.

In a press release posted to Facebook, the Louisville Police Department described Mitchell as “a prominent civil servant.” She was elected the city’s first black mayor in 1993 and previously served on the Louisville City Council. She resigned as mayor in 2000 to pursue county status.

Louisville Police Department officials responded to a report of the attack on Springwood Drive around 3:53am. The victims were identified as Bobby Mitchell and her husband, Fred Mitchell.
Police have identified the suspect as his grandson, Michelle Blake Reinker. He was still on the scene when the officials arrived.

Authorities said Rinker was taken into custody “quickly” and “satisfied.”
District 3 commissioner Bobby Mitchell is in stable condition and is undergoing treatment for a stab wound. Fred Mitchell was declared dead from injury shortly after 5am.
The commissioner has been living in Lewisville since 1971. She has two children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She has been in government roles since 1985.
Who is Mitchell Reinker?
The 23-year-old Rhineker is a resident of Louisville. He was booked at Lewisville Prison. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

What will happen next
The Louisville Police Department said the crime scene will be active as investigators and detectives continue to process the evidence and investigate the circumstances leading up to the attack. Police also said additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
