After a standoff in Texas City, the man dies after a self-harm gunshot wound.

Texas City, Texas — A man was killed and a woman was injured early Monday after violent family interference and a few hours of standoffs, police said.

Texas City Police said officers answered a 911 call around 1:01 a.m. and reported violent family interference at their residence on 27th Avenue North.

When officers arrived, multiple gunshots were fired from outside the residence. The suspect then retreated inside and continued firing from inside, police said.

A woman inside the house was shot dead during the incident, police said. She manages to escape and is taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she gets injured consistently with the shooting. Her injuries are thought to be life-threatening.

Police evacuated nearby homes as precautions, as a departmental crisis negotiation team and SWAT work to resolve standoffs. Attempts to contact the suspects failed. After a long period of time, SWAT entered the house to provide an arrest and a search warrant.

Inside, officers found an unidentified adult man who died of a self-injured gunshot wound. No other individuals have been found in the residence, and police said there is no continuing threat to the community.

The Texas City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation and Identification Division is continuing its investigation.
