Texas Governor Greg Abbott has appointed two new regents and reappointed the regent to the Regent Committee of the University of Texas System.
On Friday, the Governor’s Office announced Doug McReaken and Donald R. Sinclair, reappointing Dusty Womble as an appointment to the Governance Committee of the TTU System and its Five Components Colleges.
Doug McCleen of Peerland near Houston is the chairman of the boards of SNO Country and Texas Waste Company and Media Riders, Inc., president of McReaken & Associates and McReaken Agriculture, LLC, Water Meter Services and McReaken Enterniss, according to the governor’s office. COO and Executive Vice President of
McReaken is an executive of the Kappa Sigma Texas Tech Southwest Education Fund, a volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show and the Pearland Lions Club, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management Management from TTU.
Donald R. Sinclair of Houston is a private investor who spends 40 years in the energy industry and currently works on the boards of two energy companies.
According to Abbott’s office, Sinclair is an officer and senior member of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Visitors Committee and a member of the Academy of Petroleum Engineering at TTU Bob L. Herd. Sinclair previously served as chairman of the TTU Rawls Business Advisory Council and the Texas Tech Foundation Co., Ltd. and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from TTU.
Sinclair and McReaken will replace Regents Mark Griffin and Ginger Kerrick Davis, who served as chairman and vice-chair of the board, respectively. Womble was reappointed by the governor and initially appointed to the board in 2019 that his term ended in January 2025.
Texas Tech Prime Minister Ted L. Mitchell on Friday congratulating Tech Regents on the appointment and issued a statement welcoming the TTU Systems family.
“We are grateful for the continued leadership of Regent Womble, and each board member is passionate about our university,” Mitchell said. “We look forward to working with them as we continue to grow our dynamic university system. We also want to thank Chairman Mark Griffin and Vice Chair Ginger Kerrick Davis for our dedication to our university and for our myriad contributions during our board of directors.”
Griffin also issued a statement welcoming the new Regent and thanking him for his time on the board.
“It was my clear honor to be able to serve on the TTU Systems Regent Committee and most recently as chairman of my last year on the board,” Griffin said. “This is a bittersweet moment, but a hugely grateful moment, and I would like to thank my fellow intakers for serving my vice-chairman Ginger Kellick Davis, next to me, for his leadership and dedication to our system throughout my term.
During his previous term, Womble chaired the board’s facility committee, where he oversaw the establishment of the Texas Tech’s Womble Football Training Facility and upgrades to the Jones AT&T South End Zone.
According to the governor’s office, Lubbock’s Womble is the founding partner of Masked Rider Capital and is chairman of Service Compression, LLC. He is a former member of the Rawls Business School Advisory Board and is the Texas Tech Foundation Executive Committee.
Womble currently works for the Big XII Advisory Board and the Lubbock Christian School Board, earning a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from TTU. Womble was also recognized as the Rawls College Distinguished Alumni in 2022.
These appointments rely on confirmation by the Texas Senate. If approved, their appointments will expire in January 2031.
